"Gay pride!"
"I'm bisexual!"
"Straight and proud!"
"I'm pansexual."

Everywhere you look on dA, someone is talking about their orientation or their sex life. It's great that your gay/straight/bi/trans/whatever, but your sexuality is only one, small, facet of who you are. It seems like so many people are putting so much emphasis on their sexuality, but in reality, the only people it's important to is you, and prospective partners.

Your sex life does not define who you are.

Fight for your rights, sure, but no one really needs to hear about what goes on in your bedroom, and frankly, most don't care.

Yeah, seriously...I am the same person I was before I figured out I was asexual.  It's not the be-all-end-all of who I am.  If something is truly that central, it's my faith.

Like when someone says they're bisexual on their page, why? Who asked you? Is this for cyber sex RPs or sometimes else I'm missing?
Talk about having no personality and using sex and genders as labels.

when people insert their sexuality into every goddamn sentence, I get so pissed off. I don't go around like 'HEY I'M A LESBIAN I'M SO LESBIAN LESBIAN LESBIAN', and it almost feels like a fucking mockery when others do it. Let your sexuality be part of you, not you .

I feel bad for gay men. Because apparently you have to have 'gay pride' to be gay. Gay people: Stop being stereotypical! You don't need to act 'different'-- you've already got religious zealots everywhere screaming that you're 'different'! 'Acting gay' contradicts the foundation of the movement for gay rights, just like acting like a 'gangsta' contradicts the foundation of the civil rights struggle in the 60s!

do you remember the days when people didn't shout of the rooftops what their gender and sexual orientation are? Why do we even care so much nowadays? I really miss the days when people didn't give a crap about that sorta thing

Sexuality really shouldn't define a person, but stereotypes for certain sexualities do. Like, you can't say you're gay without at least a few people like "i bet you have aids because you sleep around and go to gay bars all the time." That's why I identify as queer. I feel like if I sit around forever trying to decide on what specific label to use people will get the wrong idea and put me into categories for that. But they can't really do that if I just say I'm queer, whereas if I said I was bisexual they'd call me a slut or say I was confused and if I said I was pansexual they'd be like "dafuq is that?" And "yeah that doesn't exist" or call me a special snowflake. I know people who are so flamboyant about being gay that you look at them for the first time and say "yeah he's gay" and other people that it's like "wow he's gay? I never would have guessed." There should be more people like the latter because really not everyone needs to know... (Wow this comment is long)

no, it's not. let's say somebody came up to you and said "im gay"
does that give any information on who that person is? no. it doesn't say that they're excitable, making an introvert or shy it doesnt tell you anything

If people hadn't started being so open about it, and fighting for their right to be open about it, we wouldn't have the rights we have now.  We still have things to fight for, so we're still loud.  Because we have to be.
It's important to not remain invisible.

OMG, thank you! People, if you think your sexuality is what defines you, then you're in for a reality check. Your personality defines you; your education defines you; hell, your pets define you! Sexuality is a mere small, teeny, tiny facet of who you are. My family, friends, and personality defines me, not my straight orientation. Hug

You don't really understand why LGBTA pride exists, so maybe you shouldn't talk about things you never bothered to understand.

Straight pride is pointless, because straight kids don't get killed because they're straight. You don't have to be afraid because you're straight. You don't have to fight for equal rights because you're straight. Being straight is accepted, and preferred. I don't get why this is such a hard concept.

I don't think that's what this stamp is targeting, I think what this stamp is targeting is the specific branch of people who put unnecessary emphasis on their sexuality.
There's nothing wrong with being proud at all, but your sexuality shouldn't define you either - You are you, Straight, gay, Bi, Pan, whatever. That's how I took the stamp anyway.

I love this stamp so much! I agree, although I support any sexual preference (as long as it doesn't affect me or my relatives in a negative way, though), but it gets tiring to hear and see that thing over and OVER AND OVER again!

Tumblr and DA are definaetly the worst offenders.

It has gone so far to the point I just want to scream: "I just asked what you had for breakfast NOT YOUR SEXUAL PREFERENCE."
