What too many people fail to realize is we don't want to keep our guns because we like drinkin' beer and huntin' deer, it's because we want to be able to protect ourselves and our families. From anyone who means to do us harm, from our enemies, from criminals, from terrorists, and yes, from the nazis and the commies. Fresh venison is also a plus. xD

Oh! I here I was thinking the second amendment was so that you can produce more news on dateline NBC!

Wee! I agree with you there! This is one thing where I am conservative on. While I do think there should be some gun control (like background checks) I believe it would be REALLY stupid if you were at home alone, and someone came in to hurt your family, and you couldn't defend yourself.
(In fact, 5 feet away from me is a gun cabinet with 4 hunting rifles, 3 boxes of bullets, and a handgun in a drawer in the bottom. I shit you not. :XD:)

I agree, there does need to be changes made to gun laws. I think laws should be much more strict, almost any joe who isn't a felon or ex-con can get a carry permit and buy a gun, and that's not right. I don't know how exactly would be the best way to reform gun laws, all I know is that there definitely should be one.

This is great, I do hunting myself (am over in Britian) and the justice system here is just shit. If someone breaks into your house, and you hurt them, you go down for assault :/ Just the other day a lady went to court because she gort attacked by thugs, and the judge said she looked too innpocent and this would give her an unfair advantage so he threw the case out. I despair. I fully agree with using whatever means necessary to defend your home, after all they shouldn't be breaking in in the first place!

She looked too innocent? Are you kidding? That's almost like in certain Middle Eastern countries where women are punished for being raped. That's asinine!
I also hear that the crime rates in the UK where gun-banning is in effect are much higher. I wouldn't know, but that's what I hear.

All gun banning laws do are make it harder for Average Joe to get a gun, meanwhile the criminals will still be breaking the law.

I kid you not sadly. Over here it's quite unjust some of thethings that happen, the criminals often get treated better than the innocent! I don;'t think jails are tough enough, they've got radio, tv, games consoles, of course people are gunna commit crimes, they get all that cool stuff for free! Though I do think it's good that not everyone can get a gun over here, there are some real nutcases and people would just be shooting each other left right and centre.

Yep, they commit crimes and get then get to live for free. And yeah, I completely agree. I believe there should be more strict criteria to meet before being able to obtain a liscence. Mental health and stability evaluations, records checked, family history checked, anything. Of course the liberals would have a heyday over that though, I can hear it now. "It's an invasion of privacy." "It's unfair", etc. Yeah, well it may be, but at least it'll help keep guns out of the hands of people likely to commit crimes with them. If it saves at least a few lives, then I don't give a rat's ass if it's a little "unfair".
